DailyBlog : What Makes Me Smile

*As a belated 2015 New Years Resolution, I decided I would write a daily (or, almost daily, I know some days I just won’t be able to find the time) blog answering a thought provoking question from a long list of questions I found here in a quest of self exploration.

Today’s Chosen Question :
What makes you smile?

Honestly, incredibly simple things. My dog snuggling under the blanket with me. A phone call from a friend. A phone call from my Dad making sure I am okay and not maimed or murdered, just because he actually cares that much. Going to my favorite restaurant. Writing. Compliments about my writing, or even people that take the time out of their day to point out areas in which I can improve with my writing, because its so nice that they took the time to let me know. Friendship in its simplicity, like its supposed to be where its simple, easy, and basic mutual respect means that there will never be drama. Word-puns, because they’re so punny! The show Buffy The Vampire Slayer; marathoning it during a bad day or week ALWAYS makes me smile and feel better. People who respect themselves. People who respect others. People who can admit when they make mistakes. People who don’t judge others, or at least people who try and put themselves into another persons shoes before judging them. People who have the strength to be themselves in the face of opposition, oppression or prejudice. Being being unafraid to “make a fool out of themselves” because they just want to have a good time. People who don’t take themselves or life so seriously. People who don’t care what others think. Basically….genuine people. Ice cream in a waffle cone. Music that speaks to my soul.

There are actually quite a lot of things that make me smile, and I am beyond glad that I am finally in a place in life where I can just sit back and enjoy the positivity I am surrounding myself with. Its quite nice to be able to smile :).
