*As a belated 2015 New Years Resolution, I decided I would write a daily (or, almost daily, I know some days I just won’t be able to find the time) blog answering a thought provoking question from a long list of questions I found here in a quest of self exploration.
Today’s Chosen Question :
What do we all have in common besides our genes that makes us human?
Honestly… nothing. I really don’t think that other than biological/scientific body composition etc, theres nothing else that every person on this planet has in common. There are things that -I- view as identifying with humanity such as empathy, feelings etc, but then there are sociopaths who live only to use and hurt others and lack those abilities, yet biology will tell us they are still human sooo…. I don’t know.
Upon reflection, I think maybe what defines a human is not what we all have in common, but what makes us unique. Isn’t the very essence of humanity extremely varied personalities, interests, abilities etc? I suppose the most accurate definition, to me, of being human is a person who is true to themselves. Those who adhere to pack mentality, societal pressures that go against their personal preferences or beliefs etc, well they are more like wolves.
