For the sake of blogging and self-exploration and contemplation, I answer a question a day off of this list.
Today’s question : What do you love most about yourself?
I wish I didn’t have to admit that it’s probably easier for EVERYONE to talk/write about the things they don’t love about themselves rather than the things they love, but especially over the last year I’ve really come to embrace the importance of valuing yourself. I don’t know that I’d use the word “love” about my qualities, but more like, gratitude and appreciation. . .
I love that despite the fact that I am a flawed person who has lived through many dark situations, I am not doomed to repeat history. I make different choices than those who victimized me in the past. That doesn’t always mean I make the right choices – but at least I make my own mistakes and not the same mistakes of others before me. I’m grateful that ever since I was a small child, I have never accepted anything at face value. I always sought different, unique experiences and I always insisted on making up my own mind about things. Because of that, I know my views and opinions are truly my own and not the product of others influences over me. Not everyone has that inherent questioning nature, and without it, I highly doubt I would even be alive right now and if I was, I would probably not be a very nice person at all.
