I decided at the very last minute to participate in NaNoWriMo this year, even though I’m still way past due to have book 3 of my Dark World Series finished (working on it daily, though!)
I chose to use my NaNoWriMo participation to kick off my previously tabled Ask Alice series. It’s difficult for me to adhere to the concept of “write as much as you can, edit later.” I’m the type of person who will write a sentence, a paragraph at most before I feel compelled to pause and reread what I wrote, often exchanging out one word for another, or restructuring a particular phrase. This is Day #3 of NaNo, and I find that I have to constantly remind myself “WHO CARES JUST KEEP ON WRITING!” I can understand what the idea is trying to accomplish, and I admit it may be very helpful for me, but breaking the habit of “editing as I write” is very much a challenge.
I don’t expect that I will finish 50k words on this project by the end of the month, but I do want to make an honest effort on a daily basis (while still prioritizing Book #3 in my Dark World Series and getting that done!)
