Top 1000! Yay!

Making the choice to publish independently is not a decision to be taken lightly. In the end, after researching all the things that traditional publishers control when it comes to your writing, I wasn’t comfortable going that route. I didn’t want to put my art in someone else’s hands like that. Sure, you have a lot of marketing back-up, but I didn’t feel the catches were worth it to me.

Smaller publishing houses do a lot less for you as an author than large ones, and they still maintain a lot of rights and requirements. I felt that having full control over every aspect of writing and publishing was the best choice for me.

I buckled down in 2015 and began my journey with the Dark World Series. Two books are published, and the third, finished and in the editing phase, will be officially available on March 30, 2018. (Less than two months!) There will be six total.

It’s been a long road. Today I noticed something that made me extremely happy.

It’s an honor to make it to the top 100 in your genre. It’s a mark of success.

I haven’t made it into the top 100. But, I the debut novel in my series has just made it into the top 1000. 924, to be exact.
Specifically : #924 in Books > Science Fiction & Fantasy > Science Fiction > Dystopian

It might not be a significant number to some people, but to me, it’s something I barely even paid attention to and suddenly after the New Year my sales jumped up and my book is selling regularly, several copies every day! I’m most certainly not getting rich, but where I am right now is definitely a mark of achievement for me, and although I write first and foremost for myself, I can’t even try to pretend like it doesn’t make me extremely happy to know that my characters, so vividly alive in my own head, get to leave their imprint in other people’s minds as well.

So, I’m going to celebrate my achievement by working even harder on this series, putting out even more bonus content, and giving all of the attention I can to these amazing characters. Thank you to anyone who has ever given this series, and myself as an author, a chance!
