** The first three books in my six part dystopian series have officially made their way out into the world! Check them out!
For the sake of blogging and self-exploration and contemplation, I’ve been slowly making my way through answering questions from this list
Today’s Question : How many of your friends would you trust with your life?
Eeeehhhh… I honestly don’t know. It’s not that I don’t trust my friends, but in an immediate life-or-death situation, it’s not altruism or others you’re thinking of, it’s in the moment survival. Some people are heroes and they’ll jump into action and risk their lives to save someone, while others, even if they are wonderful people and care deeply, will be in shock and just not able to do that.
I was white-water rafting once and it was a very “advanced” river ride, and we got hung up on a rock and started to tip. Technically, you’re responsible for the person next to you. She started to fall out, and I couldn’t reach her, I just clung to the raft. My dad ended up reaching over and grabbing her, and if he hadn’t she might have gone overboard and it would have been my fault. But in my mind, I wasn’t like “Ehhh f*ck her,” I just, couldn’t move. I couldn’t think.
I don’t think you can ever really know how you’ll respond to a situation until you’re IN that situation, so while some might not agree with my perspective, I say, look out for yourself and don’t depend on or expect someone to rescue you, even your closest friend.
