DailyBlog : My Most Prized Possession

** The first three books in my six part dystopian series have officially made their way out into the world! Check them out!
For the sake of blogging and self-exploration and contemplation, I’ve been slowly making my way through answering questions from this list

Today’s Question : What is your most prized possession?

The honest truth is that I don’t think I have any specific possession that really means that much to me in itself. I tend to live a somewhat minimalist lifestyle. I buy what I need or what I know I will use regularly, but I don’t really feel any particular attachment to my possessions.

On my bookshelf behind the three books I’ve authored myself, I have the entire ‘Flowers in the Attic’ series by V.C. Andrews. I wouldn’t call them ‘prized possessions’ but I suppose if I had to pick something I owned that at least had a significant amount of meaning to me, it would be those. I read the series when I was ten (let’s ignore the fact that no 10-year-old should be reading books like that, let’s just say that I was a very precocious child) and I was so fascinated with them that I declared I was going to grow up to be an author. In all the ways I’ve changed and in all the ways my dreams, views, opinions, and aspirations have changed as I grew up, my desire to be a writer was one thing that has always been a constant. I wouldn’t exactly be broken up if those particular books somehow got lost because I can always replace them, but having that series on my shelf serves as a reminder that I have both a passion, and a purpose.
